LPS provides tips for students starting the school year [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – As the clock ticks down to the start of school, counselors say the time to start school routines is right now.

“Making sure that they’re establishing really good routines and that time management piece, the more predictable that they can make their day in terms of how they work their way through it,” Patrick Neilly, counselor at Lincoln Northeast. “Assignments working with teachers, homework at night, those types of things, the better off a student is going to be in navigating those first few weeks.”

Neilly also recommends having an academic hour during this week before school, whether that’s reading, writing a story or having an engaging discussion. Doing that will help get the student’s mind ready for class.
