ORONO – Maine men’s ice hockey improved to 5-0-1 to start the season on Friday night with a 5-0 victory over Merrimack.
Josh Nadeau and Harrison Scott each scored in the first period, Nadeau netting his first goal of the season.
In the second, Lynden Breen got in on the action, scoring his first goal of the season to make it 3-0. Thomas Freel added another before the end of the period, and Charlie Russell added another in the third.
It’s the second shutout of the year for Albin Boija. Maine and Merrimack will battle again on Saturday in Orono, with the game slated for 7:30 p.m.
