WASHINGTON — A man has been hospitalized following an apartment fire in Southeast D.C. Monday afternoon.
According to DC Fire and EMS, firefighters were called to the 1600 block of Morris Road, Southeast for a small fire in a third-floor apartment.
The fire started in the kitchen and has since been put out.
Crews removed a man from the apartment. The unidentified man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Firefighters have not said if the man lived in the apartment where the fire happened.
It is unclear what caused the fire to spark in the first place.
No other injuries have been reported.
