SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane is undergoing a street maintenance project involving a new layer of pavement which requires southbound lanes on Market Street to close.
“The biggest concern is keeping my staff with hours,” said Joe Glatt, a regional manager at Market Street Pizza. “I got a lot of single parents working here. We’ve slowed down starting in July for the past few years, and it’s tough to make ends meet.”
Glatt said the construction takes its toll on the business financially, creating a 70 percent dip in profit.
“It’s tough on our parking lot too,” Glatt said. “We have construction vehicles weighing at thousands coming in and out of our parking lot day in and day out. It’s really tough on our concrete and asphalt.”
