“We’ve been trying so hard to keep it open, but small business is tough,” Paige*, who co-owns the cafe with her wife Stacey, told 7NEWS.

The cafe was opened a year ago as a “passion project” for the couple who “saw a need in the community for a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community, the neurodivergent community and the First Nations community”, Paige said.

The “non-judgmental” business includes features such as black walls to combat overstimulation, fidget toys and games, as well as providing space for community events and meet-ups.

“We allow people to be who they truly are,” Paige said.
