HONOLULU (Island News) — Hawaii lawmakers are starting to weigh in on the nurses strike and lockout, including a legislator from Maui who is now proposing legislative action.
Hawaii Rep. Terez Amato says she will focus on anti-union action during the next legislative session in January 2025.
Amato, who is from Maui, says there are 11 states across the country that have patient staffing laws, and that has been one of the main focuses from the Hawaii Nurses Association (HNA). One of their big concerns is how many patients one nurse is responsible.
