Michigan man charged with fleeing police on snowmobile [Video]

(WWJ) – A Northern Michigan man is due back in court this week, accused of fleeing police on his snowmobile last month.

Jeremy Hartwick Burgett of Gaylord has been charged with one count of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding in Otsego County.

Michigan State Police officials say a trooper from the Gaylord Post spotted Burgett on a snowmobile on Otsego Lake Drive in Bagley Township, near Gaylord, and noticed the snowmobile had an expired registration sticker.

When the trooper turned around and flipped on the emergency lights and siren, Burgett allegedly took off on an unplowed trail off of Lake Manuka Road, according to MSP.

As the trooper was checking the area and interviewing people, they went to a local business where the snowmobile had been seen parked outside. Surveillance footage helped identify Burgett as the rider.
