Microlending program launches to help small businesses | Mid-Missouri News [Video]

The Missouri Women’s Business Center kicked off its microlending program Wednesday night. It is doing so with the support of Upward Momentum, who awarded $839,000 to its parent organization, Central Missouri Community Action.

“It will help us hire a capital access program manager who will will actually run this program for us,” said Jayme Prenger, director of the Business Center.

The program is designed to help ease the fears of small businesses from stepping into a bank and to pull out a loan. Thus far, the Business Center has created a list of documents to bring to pull out a loan, coached owners on personal finance, and more. That will not stop with this new program.

“Any time we offer assistance to anybody, it always comes with coaching, counseling and guidance,” said Darin Preis, executive director at Community Action.
