Minimum Wage to Rise for 860,000 Americans [Video]

The Michigan Supreme Court voted on Wednesday to restore minimum wage and sick leave laws which had been reversed by the Republican-led state legislature in 2018—a move that will see the state’s minimum wage for regular and tipped workers rise to $12 per hour next year.

In 2018, a petition to increase the minimum wage and require small businesses to provide their employees with paid sick leave collected more than 280,000 signatures. Instead of letting the initiative appear on the ballot on November 6, 2018, the Republican-led state legislature voted to approve it in September of the same year.

But in December 2018, less than two months after approving the new laws, the legislature backtracked and significantly watered down the content of the bills.
