More foot traffic near Zorinsky Lake as road work starts to wrap up [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – It’s a welcome sight for many to see fewer construction signs along 168th Street between West Center Road and Q Street.

City crews are making final improvements to the bridge near Lake Zorinsky.

“They really did a good job,” Lynne Plambeck, a nearby resident said. “The lane changes will alleviate traffic and it will just be very nice.”

The bigger issue is pedestrian traffic shut down in the area, including parts of the Zorinsky trail.

For Dan German, seeing it all back open makes him excited to ride his bike.

“There’s zero question that it is a ton safer,” German said. “There’s only one crossing light on the South side of the trail, so on the north side of the trail it was a little bit sketchy getting across.”

The sidewalks are also back up, and if you need to cross the street, you still can.
