Morrison brush fire caused by bird hitting power lines [Video]

West Metro Fire Rescue said a small fire near The Fort restaurant in Morrison started after a bird hit overhead power lines and caught fire.

MORRISON, Colo. — A small brush fire in Jefferson County on Wednesday was started when a bird hit overhead power lines, according to West Metro Fire Rescue.

The department posted at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday that crews were working the fire near The Fort restaurant located at 19192 Hwy. 8 in Morrison.

About an hour later the department posted that the fire was 100% contained and crews were mopping it up.

On Thursday, the department said the bird started the fire when it caught fire after hitting the lines and landing in the grass and brush below, igniting it.
