JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Councilman Kenneth Stokes was joined by businesses and community organizations in multiple places in the Capital City Sunday, giving back to the youth ahead of the start of school.
A special back-to-school supply giveaway took place at the Commonwealth Village Apartments in honor of the late Jacobi Austin, who was killed at the Texaco gas station on Medgar Evers Blvd. last month.
“In honor of his life, we are here with different organizations to make sure we pass out school supplies to the children,” Councilman Stokes said.
If you needed school supplies, this was the place to be and to honor Austin’s life.
You could get items like backpacks, pencils and crayons, notebooks, paper, and much more for free!
Another event took place Sunday at the City Gear in Jackson with the annual “Cutz for Kids Barbershop Back-to-School.”
