The Muncie City Council officially approved the creation of three DORAs, the city announced Thursday, Nov. 14, describing the measure as “aimed at enhancing local tourism, supporting small businesses, and promoting a vibrant, social atmosphere in key districts.”
The DORAs will be located in downtown Muncie, Ball State University Village and McKinley. They will allow people to legally carry and consume alcoholic drinks in certain outdoor public spaces in those three areas.
“These designated areas provide an opportunity to enhance outdoor dining and entertainment options, helping our city continue to grow as a vibrant, welcoming destination,” Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour said in a statement.
