Wholesaler Musgrave has agreed to acquire Healy Supermarkets, which operates a SuperValu store and the Tara News newsagent in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath.
Musgrave owns the SuperValu brand as well as Centra, Mace, Daybreak and Donnybrook Fair among others, and has notified the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), which will decide whether to clear the sale following investigation.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Healy Supermarkets brings reported annual turnover of €17.9m last year, an annual increase of 8.5%, with profits falling from €657,500 to €615,700.
Paul Healy is the controlling shareholder in Healy Supermarkets, and the independent retailer employs 110 people.
Musgrave, meanwhile, made profit after tax of €99m from revenues of €4.7bn in 2022.
