The Prince of Wales has said his grandmother will be “looking down on Monday, hoping it all goes well”.
Prince William said he thought Queen Elizabeth II would be studying the military detail and the drills during her funeral, something she had always loved to do.
He was speaking to soldiers from New Zealand who have flown to the UK to take part in the ceremonies.
The Prince and Princess of Wales compared the contrasting emotions associated with the funeral and the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations just three months ago.
The Princess said it was “very strange” to deal with such different events “within such a small space of time” while her husband, now heir to the throne, described the “highs and lows” of both events.
The Princess appeared visibly tired and discussed coping with a lack of sleep with the soldiers, who are spending long days and nights preparing for Monday’s ceremonies.
