NEKOOSA, Wis. (WSAW) – A frigid New Year’s morning tradition is back to start 2025 in Nekoosa with the Polar Bear Plunge.
It’s of course the event where people take a swim to ring in the New Year. This year’s swim hit the water at Lure Bar and Grill.
“Everything that’s raised is for the kids,” Lure Bar and Grille GM Dan Lilja said. “They sacrificed their time off work today to come enjoy raising money for kids in need- and to jump in cold water.”
“It was unbelievably cold and shocking,” Polar Bear Jumpers Ella Kornaga and Julie Hawkins said laughing. “Thanks everybody who donated for us to be able to do this for this awesome cause.”
This Polar Bear Plunge is also a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network. In the past, they’ve raised $30,000 to $50,000.
