State parks in New Mexico will soon see changes to day-use fees and revised camping. New Mexico State Parks said the changes are designed to improve operations and increase safety. The new regulations go into effect Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. Below is a look at the fee changes, which differ for in-state and out-of-state visitors.Fee changesNew Mexico residents will be able to have free day-use access starting in October through the end of April. That is valid with a state-issued ID or vehicle with New Mexico license plates.Non-residents will be charged day-use fees and that will be in effect year-round.Camping feesTo be assessed per vehicle, for each day, that includes walk-in campers and those with a bicycle.Annual passesThese passes will now be aligned with the calendar year.
