DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed over 180 bills into law this year. Most of those took effect earlier this year on July 1.
However, a handful will go into effect at the start of the new year, Jan. 1, 2025. Here’s a breakdown of what some of those laws are and what they’ll do.
Increase in vehicle registration and title fees
House File 674 was signed into law on May 8. Iowans will see an increase in fees for certain vehicle registration and titling needs.
According to the Iowa General Assembly’s 2024 Summary of Legislation, House File 674 will increase fees for the following applications from $20 to $30:
