CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – As the calendar turns over to the new year, several new laws will be put in place here in Iowa.
Iowans will see a lower income tax rate starting Wednesday.
This is a new 3.8 percent flat tax rate for all taxpayers.
This puts Iowa at the sixth-lowest income tax rate in the country.
Also starting Wednesday, Iowa drivers will see a $10 increase for certain vehicle registrations and title applications.
Other laws have to do with Iowans consumer data protection.
The new law states consumers have rights to their personal data.
The last of the new laws states that businesses that sell or deliver tobacco products must now have a permit to continue sales.
