Street flooding and constant drainage issues are plaguing New Orleans. There’s been a big uproar about the city’s drainage system, with many pointing fingers, but the big question is, how did we even get here in the first place? A former city councilman says our drainage system was once one of the best in the world, so good, in fact, that other countries would come to New Orleans to learn about our system to better theirs.Jim Singleton served the city of New Orleans for over three decades. For 20 of those years, he served as the chair of the city’s drainage committee.
