PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – In July, the Parkersburg YMCA announced that they officially hired a new CEO.
Benton Walker was named C.E.O. after an almost three-month search. Soon after the announcement, WTAP interviewed Walker about the standards, practices, and goals he was hoping to bring to the Parkersburg Y.
He answered questions about the relationships he hopes to build, the way he envisions the staff working, and his excitement about beginning a new challenge.
After three weeks in the new role, much has stayed the same, but he has learned a lot more than he initially envisioned.
“Coming into the staff and now knowing them, the staff has definitely been governing themselves. I’ve been learning a lot from them as far as the organization goes and as far as Parkersburg goes. There is room for improvement including myself, so I’ve been doing a lot more learning from them as far as the organization goes,” said Walker.
