New Village Market in southern Vermont lessens store trips, community members say [Video]

There’s a new option for shoppers in southern Vermont. The Wallingford Village Market on South Main Street opened Thursday. The store sells fresh vegetables, food and products from local producers in surrounding communities. That includes Stones Throw Farm, Yoder Farm, Evening Song Farm and Rootin Tootin Acres according to store’s owner, and a member of the Market’s Founders Club. Michelle Kenny is the property owner of the new market and says the small business fills a void for people in town. “We were in desperate need of a market here in Wallingford,” Kenny said. “Most people have to drive to Rutland to get their basic groceries and their basic needs met or go down to Manchester.”She said that the location of the market is beneficial to surrounding communities as well.”Wallingford right here at the Four Corners sort of funnels a lot of our surrounding towns,” Kenny said.
