North Carolina Governor Cooper signs second disaster relief bill into law [Video]

RALIEGH, N.C. (WBTV) – North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has signed a second disaster relief bill into law on Friday, Oct. 25.

Senate Bill-743: The Disaster Recovery Act of 2024 – Part II. The disaster relief bill will provide $600 million in relief which is far less than what the governor proposed.

“Western North Carolina needs significant investments to recover fully from the worst storm our state has ever seen. Legislators have taken a small step here and should follow it with a more comprehensive package to help families, businesses and communities build back stronger.”

It has been four weeks since Hurricane Helene hit the North Carolina with 98 confirmed deaths, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
