November is here, storm track is active [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A new month is here, after a snow dump in the latter half of October in southcentral Alaska.

Anchorage saw its snowiest ever Halloween with 9.6 inches. That is a record for the day and holiday! It was also the most snow in October since 2001 ( 22 inches) and it is the 5th snowiest October for Anchorage in record-keeping!

Friday saw some calm in southcentral. The snow remained light and was just a dusting. Winds will pick up in Anchorage’s higher elevations and along Turnagain Arm Friday night into Saturday, east winds 25 to 45 mph.

Winds were blasting over the Aleutian Chain and Alaska Peninsula. Gusts reached 62 mph in Unalaska and 68 mph in Cold Bay. Over northwest Alaska, Cape Lisburne shuddered through a gust of 52 miles per hour.
