Nows the time to start lawn seeding for fall [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Even with the passing rain the Ozarks saw on Tuesday, homeowners have been going to area nurseries to gather supplies to seed their lawns.

Ross Hyde, a nursery expert from Wickman’s Garden Village, says the timing is suitable for everyone to come in.

“I like seeding my lawns in the fall just due to the coolness that’s coming on,” Hyde says. “You’ll get a good root established during the fall, taking you into the winter.”

In addition to timing, Hyde stresses the importance of seeding correctly, starting with what seed to use. If your yard has shaded areas, specific shade mixes are more suited for that growth. Regular seeding can be tackled with five-star and tall turf fescues and even Bermuda grass seeds. Whatever varieties you use, have the right tools ready to get them in the soil.
