Opioid overdose reversal medication will soon be available for free in Dubuque [Video]

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Boxes of Narcan, a nasal spray equipped with opioid overdose reversal medication, will be available for free at two locations in Dubuque.

“There are so many people that need the help, but they just don’t know where to turn,” said Resources Unite President Josh Jasper.

On November 9, Steps of Hope Iowa will place refurbished newspaper dispensers full of Narcan at Natural Nectars on Central Avenue and Resources Unite on John F Kennedy Road. The installation will mark the 14th community the non-profit organization has reached, featuring more than 20 Narcan sites.

Ann Breeding, the founder of Steps of Hope Iowa, said the idea for these boxes started during a conversation with her son Daniel, who endured a 12-year battle with a substance use disorder.
