Organizations wait for Flint City Council to approve funding | Local [Video]

Several community organizations and nonprofits are waiting for funding as the Flint City Council continues to be deadlocked.

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – Monday marked six weeks since the Flint City Council last approved a measure to conduct the city business.

Since Oct. 14, council members have been unable to reach a quorum required to conduct the city’s business and members have deadlocked 4-4 on electing a new council president and vice president.

On Monday, council members reached 411 deadlocked votes on the council leadership. As the council remains split, residents and area change-makers are suffering. 

Many nonprofit organizations continue waiting to get American Rescue Plan Act funding and other business approvals. They include Involved Dad, which is waiting for a $35,000 earmark to expand the organization’s resources.
