Oxford daycare submerged in five feet of water determined to rebuild [Video]

OXFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – The damage from Sunday’s rain storm has been devastating, but not enough to crush people’s spirits.

Small businesses along the Little River were badly flooded, including a daycare.

Creative Starts Learning Center was submerged in 5 feet of water.

“Never in my life have I ever handled this much,” said Marta Saklawska, Owner, Creative Starts Learning Center.

The daycare serves about 50 families. They are anxious to return and so are the teachers.

“We all planned to come to work Monday, wondering all night Sunday night what was going to happen. What would we walk into on Monday? But it’s great how we all came together,” said Samantha Ottowell, Daycare Teacher, Creative Starts Learning Center.

The daycare is not alone, other businesses in the Little River Plaza were also damaged.
