The New England Patriots have officially taken star quarterback Drake Maye off concussion protocol and will start him in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans.
The rookie quarterback was in concussion protocol after leaving last week’s win over the Jets in the second quarter. He was hit on the back of the head by Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood during an 18-yard scramble, after which Maye continued to play for four more snaps before being taken out of the game. He did not return, and backup Jacoby Brissett led the Patriots to a 25-22 victory for the remainder of the match.
