Phase 2A of the Tangerine Road improvement project is underway [Video]

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News)—The second part of the Tangerine Road Improvement Project has started in Marana.

This comes after phase one from La Canada to Twin Peaks just wrapped up. This part of the project, 2A, will take about two years to complete.

It will start from I-10 and go east just past Tangerine Business Loop.

Construction crews are digging a trench on the south side of Tangerine to bury utilities that they need. A small stretch of traffic will be shifted onto the side of the road, and we’re told this will have little to no impact on traffic.

Some of the highlights of this project include widening Tangerine from two lanes to four, putting in a median, improving drainage, adding a 12-foot-wide multi-use path, and adding a new look interchange at I-10 and Tangerine that includes walking and bike paths.

This project will cost about $35 million from voter-approved RTA funds.
