JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) – Amendment Three, protecting access to abortions in Missouri, is set to go into effect at midnight.
Planned Parenthood says it’s ready to start offering abortion as soon as it gets permission from the courts. However, even when the Jackson County judge issues her ruling, the legal battle will be far from over.
Even though Missourians voted to bring abortion back to the state, the laws still stand banning and restricting abortion. Planned Parenthood has filed to overturn those laws, but it will be a lengthy legal process.
“The state’s trying to delay, distract, and ultimately prevent Missourians from accessing abortion care, but Missourians have been heard,” said Emily Wales, CEO of Planned Parenthood Great Plains.
Planned Parenthood says it’s ready to start offering walk-in abortion appointments tomorrow at three Missouri locations: Columbia, Kansas City, and St. Louis.
