The Lions leaped out to a promising 4-0 start last fall before a six-game losing streak. Borah battles rival Timberline to open the season Thursday night.
BOISE, Idaho — It was the tale of two seasons for the Borah High School football team in 2023.
The Lions dominated in their first four games, starting undefeated with wins over in-town rivals Capital and Timberline. But Borah ultimately lost its last five regular season games, including a double-overtime defeat to rival Boise on homecoming and senior night.
“I kind of feel like we got a little bit ahead of ourselves and kind of took our foot off the gas and got we got humbled,” said Keijen Shearer, a senior playing several positions this season, including linebacker, fullback, tight end and long snapper.
Despite the difficulties, the Lions made their way into the first round of 5A state playoffs.
