President-elects lawsuit against Des Moines Register moved to federal court [Video]

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – President-elect Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the Des Moines Register has been moved to federal court, according to court documents.

Gannett, the Des Moines Register’s parent company, requested the case be moved from state court to federal court in part because the case involves parties that are located in different states.

President-elect Trump filed the lawsuit earlier this week. In addition to the Des Moines Register, the lawsuit also names pollster J. Ann Selzer and Selzer & Company.

The lawsuit is in regard to Selzer’s poll published by the Des Moines Register days before Election Day that showed Vice President Kamala Harris leading in Iowa.

Trump, who would end up winning Iowa by double-digits, alleges the poll was deceiving and amounted to election interference.

The Des Moines Register has stood by releasing the poll. Ann Selzer announced her retirement from polling after the election.
