Pueblo small businesses facing challenges with minimum wage increase [Video]

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – Minimum wage in Colorado increased this year from $14.42 to $14.81. Now because local businesses and restaurants have to start paying their employees more, some owners say they can’t afford to bring in more staff members and are forced to downsize.

For Steel City Nutrition Owner, Brian Redmond, this is an issue he along with his fiancé are having to face.

Redmond tells 11 News, “Steel City Nutrition is the healthy nutrition hub of Pueblo.”

Redmond continues saying, “So we’re all about helping people be healthier, have more energy and feel better… We do healthy meal replacement shakes, we do healthy iced coffees, (which) can be served hot or cold, energy teas.
