Rapid City experiencing another strong year in sales tax revenue collections [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Rapid City’s Legal and Finance Committee released the sales tax report Wednesday for the first nine months of the year.

The report shows sales tax collected for the first three quarters of this year totaled approximately $65 million, that’s more than a 3% increase over the $63 million received during the same time period last year.

The month of September broke a record, with more than $7.6 million collected, compared to $7.5 million in September of 2023.

“As our community continues to grow, and we attract new residents, those residents continue to contribute to our economy, I think that’s how you can see it’s reflected every single month. Month after month, almost every month is a record,” the city’s finance director, Daniel Ainslie, said.
