RAYMOND, Miss. (WLBT) – Last season, the Raymond boys’ basketball team played in the state championship game for the eighth-straight season; the Rangers won their fifth title in that span.
This season, the Rangers’ goal is a ninth-straight state championship appearance, but the Rangers are seeking to do so with an entirely new lineup. Last season, Raymond graduated eight players, including the entire starting five from a team that went 31-4.
“It’s been very unique this year. Being able to replace eight key pieces, six guys that signed college scholarships, it’s been tough at times,” said head coach Tony Tadlock. “We didn’t have a player coming back that averaged one point a game, but these guys took that challenge. Every night, we’re playing a tough schedule right now, we played a lot of 5, 6, 7a teams. We’re in the middle of our district run right now; we started district play last night.
