The land inside the red lines has been rezoned from rural to business land.
Rolleston’s industrial hub is set to expand westward as a huge chunk of land has been rezoned at the request of property developers the Carter Group.
Selwyn district councillors last week decided to rezone 98 hectares of rural land bordered by Two Chain Rd, the existing industrial area, State Highway 1, and Walkers Rd.
An independent commissioner said the rezoning would have “significant economic benefits” and recommended that councillors approve it.
Carter Group’s Tim Carter said Rolleston was “a key industrial hub” for the South Island and the land was “a logical extension” of the existing industrial area.
