EAGLE, Neb. (KOLN) – With the current climate, it’s possible for a fire to start anywhere. A small fire could even start in short grass and grow to something bigger.
In the past two weeks, Eagle Fire & Rescue has had six grass or combine fires.
“There’s just no moisture in the ground and with the weather we have coming in this weekend with 90s and low humidity in teens, doesn’t take long for there to just be a little spark and it’ll just take the whole field,” Luke Renken, Eagle Fire & Rescue captain, said.
During the dry months, harvest fires can be even more prevalent due to mechanical failures.
