Second hearing between City of Birmingham and venue where mass shooting happened takes place; outcome unknown [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The legal battle between the City of Birmingham and Trendsetters Lounge and event space continued Monday morning in Jefferson County Circuit Court.

The city was granted a temporary restraining order in July just days after 4 people died and 10 others were injured at the business.

The business did not have a license and was operating illegally according to legal documents filed on behalf of the City of Birmingham.

In documents filed before Monday’s hearing, Birmingham’s City attorney asked for multiple restraining orders against Trendsetters Lounge to prevent it’s use as a nightclub and to declare it a public nuisance.

WBRC was not permitted in the courtroom because of a protective order for witnesses. However, attendance was limited to a small group of people directly involved in the case.
