Small businesses supported in Asheboro during snow fall [Video]

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Whenever we prepare for winter weather like this we talk a lot about the roads because they give us a lot of issues across the Triad. 

Residents around downtown Asheboro Tuesday evening took advantage of the soft flakes falling from the sky. 

Places like Time Square Pizza, and Four Saints Brewing Company welcomed customers in. 

People like Janine Conrad, and Tammy O’Kelley said they will always support small businesses like the brewery. 

Owner, Joel McClosky said he’s thankful for the business. 

All of the main roads in Asheboro Tuesday afternoon were covered with brine in preparation for winter weather.

The brining process started days ago. 

Brine is a mix of salt and water because it more effectively coats the roads than just plain salt. 

Brine has to be applied when it isn’t raining, or it will wash off the roadways. 

Brine also lowers the freezing temperature of water to around 18 degrees.
