Snow not likely to stop Veterans Day parade as Colorado Springs officials work extra hard to keep roads clear [Video]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – After a series of uncertainties for the city’s Veterans Day parade, Colorado Springs officials say the show will go on, despite the three-day long storm prefacing the holiday weekend.

The parade was cancelled earlier this year before being re-organized. Now, with several inches of snow on the ground closing roads and businesses, it seemed up in the air whether the event would still go on as planned Saturday morning.

Recently, co-chair of the event John O’Donnell announced the parade will be postponed, but only by a little bit, with the parade now starting at noon on Saturday along Tejon, from St. Vrain to Vermijo.

“I would say they’ll be many thousands of people downtown, hopefully,” O’Donnell said Thursday, “you never know until it happens, but we’re ready for a good crowd.”

This extra time gives the city more of a chance to clear the roads.
