TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Some official election results are starting to arrive here in Northwest Ohio as people here and in Washington DC watch the 9th district congressional race which is still too close to call.
Marcy Kaptur tries to hold onto her seat as we have learned her opponent Derek Merrin has cut into her lead.
We got official results from Defiance County Thursday. That’s one of the eight counties in that congressional race. Merrin got a net gain of 124 votes as of Nov. 14 when Defiance County certified its results.
Before that, just short of 1200 votes separated the two.
Official results count all absentees that were mailed and received by the board of elections after election day, plus all provisional ballots that were certified as legit by each county Board of Elections.
