ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) — A St. Peters woman faced a judge for the first time today after being accused of burning four businesses in Puerto Rico.
Danielle Bertothy is accused of taking a gas can to businesses while on vacation. Now, First Alert Four Investigates is learning even more about the evidence against her.
Bertothy appeared in court with her hands shackled, wearing the Grateful Dead sweatshirt she was reportedly arrested in yesterday. She answered the judge’s simple questions but didn’t show much emotion.
The legal case against her is just now moving forward, with the prosecutor calling it an “egregious act of violence” and writing in court documents that Bertothy now realizes “what happened in Puerto Rico will not stay in Puerto Rico.”
Neighbors in St. Peters have been shocked by this case, which has gone viral. Shortly after the January 2 fires, internet sleuths worked to identify Bertothy — and so did investigators.
