Start getting your bulbs ready now to enjoy spring blooms | Morning [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – It’s never too early to start thinking about spring flowers and bulbs. And a little work now will pay off big time after a long cold winter.

“So one of the many questions we get asked about bulbs is people see them flowering in the spring, they’re coming into the garden center wanting to get my tulip bulbs, and we’re like well… you needed to plant them in the fall,” said Jeff Wallitsch of Wallitsch Gardens.

Here are some bulb planting tips to get you ready this fall:

• Make sure you plant your bulbs 2-3 times the depth of your bulb. If a bulb is 2 inches, plant it 4-6 inches deep in the ground.
• Tulip bulbs can be planted pretty close together for a more full look.
• Daffodil bulbs need more space with about 6-8 inches between them.
• Daffodil bulbs are deer and squirrel resistant.
