Pablo Regalado and Santiago Jaramillo started Twin Farms in California to help tropical fruit farmers in Latin America connect with buyers in the U.S. They cut out the middleman to reduce costs and created a platform to facilitate that.
“Farmers create a profile,” said Regalado, CEO and co-founder of Twin Farms. “The buyers as well create a profile. And they meet through the marketplace. And we, at Twin Farms, we coordinate all the steps.”
That caught the eye of HudsonAlpha’s Ag Tech Accelerator program, powered by Gener8tor. They have been looking for innovators who want to reduce how much we pay for produce. Acting much like ABC’s “Shark Tank,” they invested $100,000 to help Twin Farms expand.
