After a landslide victory on Election Day, Fayetteville now joins multiple other cities in Washington County that can sell alcohol on Sundays.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After a landslide victory on Election Day last month, Sunday alcohol sales are now legal in Fayetteville and could start as soon as Dec. 8.
According to election results from Washington County, 82% of residents voted for the issue, while 18% voted against it.
During a meeting on Dec. 4, the Fayetteville City Council voted unanimously to update the city’s code to reflect the change.
Alongside it, the city approved an emergency clause that would allow Sunday alcohol sales immediately.
Fayetteville City Attorney Kit Williams confirmed that the city council approved the changes and said that it was now in the hands of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).
