Residents in Athens are preparing for the coming possibility of winter weather.
Sand trucks and snow plows are on standby if needed.
The City of Athens, its residents, and travelers are busy preparing for the inclement weather ahead.
The Public Works Department says they have sand trucks and snow plows on standby when they’re needed. The Athens Street Department Manager Dolph Bradford says it’s all hands on deck this weekend with crews on standby at all times.
“We’ll start with the main roads and intersections and work our way into the smaller sectioned streets in town,” Bradford said. “We will monitor all of the bridges and then we’ll go to the hospital and the streets around the hospitals and make sure that emergency vehicles can get in and out.”
