TROY, Ala. (WSFA) – A seasoned leader in Troy is stepping down as chief of the city’s police department.
Randall Barr has served the small town for years and is ready to start a new chapter.
Being Troy’s chief of police was an honor and a privilege for Barr, but growing up, he never thought he would be a police officer.
“Working over at Troy State University, back then I was working in the post office doing an old work study job,” said Barr.
That’s where he was approached to apply to be part of the Troy Police Department, the start of his 35-year career in public safety.
Barr served as a captain of patrol for five years and a lieutenant for eight. When the position opened, Barr applied for the job of police chief.
