WORTHINGTON, Iowa (KCRG) – The “Git R Done” trucking company in Worthington delivers livestock to small communities in North Carolina all the time, including the city of Piney Creek. So when the small town of Piney Creek got hit by Hurricane Helene, the company knew it had to help.
Owner Steve Shady talked to one of the families in Piney Creek and they told him they weren’t getting any help after Helene.
“So many people have been focused on the big cities that the people out in the country are just left to fend for themselves,” Shady said. “I asked him what can we do and he said anything would be helpful,” he said.
The trucking company has started collecting donations to deliver to those communities. It’s bringing everything it can fit in a semi trailer.
