Tuscaloosa businesses prepare for football season [Video]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — With just 14 days until the Crimson Tide are back on the field, bars and restaurants in Tuscaloosa are preparing for the thousands of fans that will head to the strip for game day.

Restaurant managers say they have been stocking up on food, alcohol and supplies. The manager of The Standard Alabama, a pizza restaurant preparing for their second football season, says football season can make up for 70% of the year’s revenue.

With the University of Alabama starting classes, bar owners in Tuscaloosa say they have been working to hire additional employees to prepare for the large crowds that will be in town for game days.

Some fans have been concerned about what the first post-Nick Saban season will look like. Dakota Laurent, the assistant manager of Buffalo Phil’s, says he doesn’t expect it to be any different.
